Try this look on a budget

Who doesn’t love flipping through the pages of the new Pottery Barn catalog and dream of one day having the space (and budget) to create some of the looks in my own home. If you have ever been in our house, you’ll see we love the look and feel of the dark wood, similar the table and buffets in this Pottery Barn dining room.  When we get a formal dining room, I would love to recreate this look.  I’m in love with this table and these cozy chairs.  Something about this room is very inviting and I would love to have guests for dinner.  Now, if I only had the time.

After looking more closely at the main elements, this room would cost close to $10,000!  I don’t know about you, but my nursing salary doesn’t allow for that!  However, I have found a way to get a similar look for your dining room for a budget of $2,000-$3,500.

Dining chairs and table

Buffet cabinets

As for the buffet cabinets, I wanted to find a large, sturdy piece of furniture that coordinated with the dining table.  There are so many options that are similar and provide plenty of storage.  Tip: opt for solid cabinet door without glass so you don’t HAVE to keep it the inside organized.

Sphere Chandelier and lanterns

The chandelier was more difficult to find but I ended up finding some I like even better!  My favorite is this one with the rustic wood and iron.  Adding in these wooden lanterns would tie in the rougher, wooden element.

natural rug

There are many options for a natural sisal rug.  You could even add a little more color into your room with rugs that have colored border.  Make sure to note the size of your table and your room in order to choose the right size rug.  Check out this link on how to find the right size rug for your dining room.
